One woman was shot and killed Friday evening at a Lakewood motel.

On Oct. 18 at around 9:30 p.m., Lakewood Police were informed of a shooting that took place at the Blue Sky Motel at 6205 W. Colfax Ave, according to a release. When they arrived, they found a 32-year old Brittany Guern suffering from a gun shot wound. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police announced on Oct. 22 that they arrested Asha Thompson in connection to the shooting at around 7:30 a.m., according to John Romero, a spokesperson for Lakewood Police. Thompson was found at the Big Bunny Motel, located just across the street from the Blue Sky Motel.

On Oct. 23., police announced that 35-year old Kennie Sutton is considered a person of interest in Guern's murder. The public is asked to not approach Sutton as he is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call 911.

Anyone with information into the shooting can call the Lakewood Police tip line at 303-763-6800.
