Police shoot man at Lakewood apartment complex

An investigation into incident is only beginning

After a standoff with Lakewood Police, a man was shot and taken to a hospital.

In the afternoon of Oct. 27, police were called to the Villa Rosa Apartment complex at 10705 W. 7 Ave. over complaints of a disturbance, according to a release. When police arrived, they found the man with a weapon at the driveway area of the apartment complex.

The man refused to drop the weapon, and police shot him, the release reads. He was taken to a hospital, and his condition is unknown.

The Jefferson County CIRT team is in charge of investigating the incident. The investigation is only beginning as evidence is being examined and interviews are being conducted. No citizens or police officers were injured.
