A man has been taken into custody after a woman died at a Lakewood residence.

On Jan. 1 at 11:19 a.m., Lakewood Police were sent to a residence at the 2500 block of South Cody Way on reports of a stabbing, according to a release. When police arrived, they found 49-year-old Keli Jackson with multiple stab wounds.

Officers tried to use lifesaving techniques on her, but they didn't work, and Jackson was declared dead.

Police took 52-year-old Stephen Douglas DeRossett into custody at the scene. He was booked into the Jefferson County Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree murder.
