To kick off the new school year, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis paid Green Gables Elementary School a visit in Lakewood. Along with Colorado State Senator Brittany Pettersen, Polis read a book to a group of kindergartners. After that, he, Pettersen and Jeffco Public Schools Superintendent Jason Glass cruised through the school and stopped in through a few different classrooms.

Polis called for a bill providing free full-day kindergarten, which the Colorado Legislature passed earlier this year, and is going into effect at many Jefferson County school district elementary locations this fall.
