Community members invited to submit images of Clear Creek and its surroundings

Clear Creek, whose heartbeat has pulsed through Golden for thousands of years, speaks to each of us in a different language. Whether we stroll its shores, sit on its bank in contemplation or ride its back in rafts or kayaks, we all feel a connection to one of Golden’s most loved sites.

Write West, a Golden-based writing group, would like to translate these relationships into a community poem, one composed collectively by those who enjoy a bond with this leaping waterway in our city’s midst.

Residents are invited to submit up to three images of the creek or its surroundings. Each should be no longer than 18 words but can be much shorter. You needn’t be a Golden resident or a writer, just someone who loves this waterway and would like to create a few well-chosen words to express some element of its magic.

We’ll use as many submissions as possible, weaving them into a poem that will both describe and honor its passage through our lives. Some lines may be shortened or altered if necessary, but the essence will remain.

Join in this community effort to express pride in Clear Creek, and watch for the results. Deadline for submission is Oct. 6. Send your poetic lines to WriteWest2020@gmail.com.
