Nearly a month after 56-year-old Rene Perez was shot and killed in a parking lot at an apartment complex at the 200 block of South Teller Street, four suspects in connection to the case are now in custody.

Lakewood Police announced the arrests of 20-year-old Alec Philippe Destree, 19-year-old Dominic Joseph Maestas, 18-year-old Manuel Garcia and 21-year-old Autumn Lucero for suspicion of committing first-degree murder. The arrests were announced by Lakewood Police on Nov. 13.

Police were called to the apartment complex on Oct. 15 on reports of shots being fired. It is believed that Perez was the victim of an attempted carjacking.
