Jeffco Public Schools and Columbine High School — in partnership with the Columbine Memorial Foundation, Waterstone Community Church, Foothills Park and Recreation District-Clement Park, and The Rebels Project — will hold several community events to honor and remember the victims of the April 20, 1999 Columbine tragedy. A committee of volunteers from the participating organizations and the families of those impacted by the events at Columbine 20 years ago are planning the events. The community is invited to attend.
The following events are planned:
“Columbine 20 Years Later: A Faith-based Remembrance Service”
What: A non-denominational service designed to bring the victim’s families, survivors and community together for reflection, prayer and speeches.
When: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18

Community Vigil at the Columbine Memorial in Clement Park
What: Ceremony to honor and remember those who were impacted by the events on April 20, 1999.
When: 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 19

Columbine High School World-Wide Day of Service
What: Students and staff will be spending the morning serving in the community. Participation is restricted to current students and staff, but they invite others to commit to the day of service projects in solidarity with them.
When: 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 20

Remembrance Ceremony at Clement Park
What: A community remembrance ceremony presented by Columbine families, current CHS students and alumni, and current and former CHS staff.
When: 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 20
Need to know
Limited parking will be available in Clement Park due to ongoing construction and other planned athletic activities. Public transportation and carpooling are encouraged. Attendees should plan for security check-points and crowd-management restrictions during these events.
On Saturday, April 20, parking will be available on the west side of Soutwest Plaza by the old Draf Bar/Restaurant, with shuttle service provided to the location.
For school safety, Columbine High School will not be open to the general public on Saturday, April 20. There are several private events planned for 1999-2002 Columbine families, staff and alumni. Entrance to the school facilities will be restricted to those with invitations and security clearance.
