Ballet Ariel’s season finale will feature Act 3 of the timeless masterpiece Swan Lake, alongside the premiere of Mother Goose Fairy Tales.
Mother Goose Fairy Tales (Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Tom Thumb, Empress of the Pagoda and The Fairy Garden) is an original ballet developed by the creative team of Ballet Ariel Director, Ilena Norton, and Resident Choreographer, Gregory Gonzales. Performed to the Mother Goose Suite score and scenario by Maurice Ravel, the original choreography is an entertaining fusion of Norton’s classical style and Gonzales’s contemporary influence. Audiences of all ages will be delighted by this whimsical yet elegant performance.
Act 3 of Swan Lake, is based on Petipa’s 1895 revival and staged for this production by Patricia Renzetti, Ballet Ariel’s Ballet Mistress and former prima ballerina with Colorado Ballet, and Oleg Dedogryuk, Rehearsal Director for Ballet Ariel and Vaganova Academy graduate and a former dancer with Eifman Ballet. Tchaikovsky’s majestic score brings this old German fairy tale to life, drawing the audience into the great hall of Prince Siegfried’s castle for the choosing of his bride. Beguiled by the black swan Odile, disguised as Odette, the prince pledges his love to the dark-hearted imposter, breaking his vow of fidelity and condemning Odette to life as a swan.
