I have lived in Applewood for 14 years, and before that I lived in Wheat Ridge for two years. I live in a great, quiet neighborhood with very nice neighbors. I live with my dad, my mom, my older sister and my dog.
I go to school at Faith Christian Academy and this year I will be a junior in high school. My favorite classes in school are the Bible and science classes that my school offers. At school I am also a part of the student council.
In my free time
I love to play soccer and other sports. I really enjoy being outdoors and hiking, swimming, fishing, hiking and camping. I love to take my dog on walks and go running with him.
I also really love to sing and am in the men’s choir and the ensemble at school. I love getting to spend time with my family and we have a lot of fun together. All of my cousins and extended family live close to us and we all enjoy spending time with each other.
Working to help Children’s Hospital
I’m currently a Life Scout working on becoming an Eagle Scout, and for my Eagle Scout Service Project I made 204 heart-shaped pillows for the children at Children’s Hospital who have had open heart surgery.
The purpose of these pillows is to aid in their recovery and comfort them when they cough, sneeze, or when they are riding in the car it will pad their fragile tissue from a seatbelt. I have made the pillows in three different sizes to accommodate toddler, adolescent and teenage patients.
This project is very near to my heart because both my mom and older sister have heart complications and I want to help other people who struggle in the same ways as they do. Also, I have had three surgeries at Children’s Hospital myself. Children’s Hospital has done a whole lot for me and I see my Eagle Scout project as a very neat way to give back to them for everything they have done for me.
Being an Eagle Scout
An Eagle Scout is the highest rank and honor in Boy Scouts. Of all the boys who join Boy Scouts only 4 percent achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
I have really enjoyed all of the camping, backpacking and hiking that Boy Scouts offers. I also feel very equipped for life and I feel that I can take care of myself and others in different situations. Boy Scouts has really refined my character and I am grateful for the leadership, life and survival skills I have gained by being a Scout.
