The public is invited to a book signing event for Debbie Brewer Binkley, a local writer and author of the book, “Brown Paper and a Piece of String,” on Thursday, Dec. 7, 1:30 p.m. in the Evergreen Room at Covenant Village of Colorado, a senior living community located at 9153 Yarrow St., Westminster, Colo.
Set in the 1930s, “Brown Paper and a Piece of String” is inspired by a message that Binkley’s pastor father, Dr. Fred V. Brewer, preached every year from 1955 until his last Christmas in 2010. The book, published in 2016, tells the story of a young Texas farm boy named Frankie who is disappointed when he receives a last-minute gift wrapped in brown paper and tied with string. It is this simple unexpected moment that Frankie realizes the value of the gift was far greater than the wrapping itself.
Binkley will sign copies of the limited-edition books for those wishing to purchase a copy for $30. Free gift wrapping in brown paper tied with string is included. Net proceeds from the book sale will benefit the Covenant Village of Colorado Benevolent Care Fund, which helps current residents cover the cost of health services when they no longer have financial resources to do so.
The event is free to attend and open to the public. For more information, please call 877-341-0295 or visit www.CovenantColorado.org.
