For 70 years, Alameda International High School has celebrated the the graduation of students who would go on to positively impact the world. But according to teacher Erik Tucker, the class of 2018 is something unique.

"This is the most special group of graduates I've come across in my years of teaching,"

Tucker, who was the faculty speaker at Alameda's graduation ceremony on May 22 at the Buell Theatre. "We need you to be our voice. When you see a person, community or country being mistreated, you need to say enough. You need to be an active member in putting away harmful stereotypes and prejudices."

Other speakers like students Angel Bernard and Cindy Hoang highlighted the importance of gratitude for the support of teachers, friends and family who made the achievement possible.

"In a few years, we may wish life was as simple as it was in high school," Bernard said. "Remember these people."
